Our Process...

Step 1 – The Consultation

Schedule a free, no-obligation consultation with Martin Nagel.

During this meeting, we’ll discuss your design ideas, preferences, and any inspirations you may have. We will explore options for your center stone—whether you are considering a natural diamond, a lab-grown diamond, or a gemstone. You’ll be guided through the pros and cons of each to ensure you are able to make an informed decision. As the centerpiece of the ring, the stone is typically the most valuable and visually prominent element.

We'll also cover the various metal options available, helping you understand the characteristics of each. Our goal is to identify a ring design that reflects both your taste and your partner’s style. Any questions you may have about the materials, design process, or timeframes will be thoroughly addressed.

Budget is an important aspect of the consultation. Knowing your budget helps us to recommend the best possible materials and design solutions for your specific needs.

Tips to help you prepare for your consultation:

  • Determine your partner’s ring size: Try to find this out in advance to streamline the process and avoid any surprises when it’s time to propose. For guidance, refer to our ring sizing tips [here].

  • Know your budget: Having a clear idea of what you're willing to spend enables us to tailor our suggestions to maximise value.

  • Identify preferred design styles: Pay attention to your partner’s taste or ask their close friends or family for advice. This ensures the final ring is as meaningful as it is beautiful.

  • Set aside one hour: Our consultations typically take about an hour, giving us enough time to cover everything thoroughly.

Step 2 – The Design

Once your ideal stone(s) and design concept are confirmed, we begin the design process.

Following your consultation, our team will create a 3D CAD rendering—a photo-realistic digital model of your ring. This provides a highly accurate visual representation of the finished piece. Along with the CAD image, you’ll receive a formal quotation for your approval.

Once you're happy with the design and the quote, a *50% deposit is required to initiate the manufacturing process.

Step 3 – Crafting Your Ring

With your deposit received, we move into the manufacturing phase.

First, a 3D wax print of the ring is created and cast in your chosen metal. The cast ring is then carefully cleaned and assembled by our master jeweller, Zizi, who ensures every detail meets our high standards. A pre-polish is performed, and a thorough quality check is conducted to confirm the metalwork is flawless.

Next, the ring proceeds to our setting department, where our expert stone setter, Mr Kenny, meticulously sets each stone. This step demands both precision and experience, as it is crucial to the durability and security of the finished piece. A second quality check follows, to ensure all stones are secure and perfectly aligned.

Finally, the ring undergoes a final polish by our skilled polisher, Sipho, who brings out the brilliance and finish of the piece. If the ring is made of white gold, it is rhodium-plated to enhance its shine and durability.

Once complete, the ring is personally inspected by Martin Nagel to ensure it meets our exacting standards. When approved, we will prepare your Tax Invoice and Valuation Certificate—both of which are essential for insurance purposes. These documents will be sent to you once your ring is ready for collection.

*50% Non refundable deposit on all Custom orders.
**Although we do our utmost to always ensure the best quality and workmanship, we are only human. Although it should not happen, sometimes stones do fall out. In this case, if the ring is undamaged and normal wear and tear does not apply, we will replace the stone (up to 0.10ct) free of charge. Anything above this will be for the client's expense or the expense of the insurance company. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you fully insure the ring before collecting it.
